Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • 1/2 lbs American Chocolate Malt

    American Chocolate Malt

    Use in all types to adjust color and add nutty, toasted flavor. Chocolate flavor.

  • 3/8 lbs American Black Patent

    American Black Patent

    Provides color and sharp flavor in stouts and porters.

  • 3/8 lbs Black Roasted Barley

    Black Roasted Barley

    Unmalted roasted grain, it is the backbone of many stouts. Imparts a sharp acrid flavor characteristic of dry stouts. Gives "dryness" to a stout or porter ,more so than regular Roasted Barley.

  • 3.52 lbs Dark; John Bull

    Dark; John Bull

    Colored using roasted malt to give a rich mocha flavor and aroma bringing individuality to mild, porter, and stout brews.

In addition to the two cans of John Bull, I used 1 pound of plain extra dark DME. One of the cans of John Bull was hopped also.

Looking back...

Looking back on it now, this was the best stout I have made to this point. I certainly wish I had more of them. As far as making more....there are so many beers to make and so little time. I have yet to duplicate one of my recipes and make another batch, but if I did, I think this would be the one that I would make again.
