Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 5 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1 lbs American Caramel 10°L

    American Caramel 10°L

This malt is light in color with a sweet caramel flavor. It is a great malt for light lagers and ales.

  • 3 lbs Honey

    Honey

Imparts sweet and dry taste. For honey and brown ales. Also: specialty ales.

  • 1 tsp Irish Moss - (omitted from calculations)

    Irish Moss

  • 5 tsp Yeast Nutrient - (omitted from calculations)

    Yeast Nutrient

  • Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

Notes

The real yeast is Cooper's Ale yeast, but WYeast 1056 should work. Of the 3 pounds of honey, have at least one pound clover, orange or some aromatic honey and only boil the honey 15-20 minutes.
