An American brown ale made with all wheat (absolutely no barley) -- that's where the name comes from: NBW = Nothing But Wheat. Rice hulls are needed (although mash hopping may also work).

Ingredients (All Grain21 L)

  • 3.960 kg German Wheat Malt Light

    German Wheat Malt Light

    Typical top fermented aroma, produces superb wheat beers.

  • 0.360 kg Caramel Wheat Malt

    Caramel Wheat Malt

    For dark ales, hefeweizen, dunkelweizen, wheat bocks and double bocks.

  • 0.200 kg Chocolate Wheat Malt

    Chocolate Wheat Malt

    Intensifies aroma; improves color. For dark ales, alt, dark wheat, stout and porter.

  • 20 g Northern Brewer - 6.5 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Northern Brewer

    Used for bittering with strong flavors and very fragrant in steam beers, dark English ales, and German lagers. Aroma is medium-strong with evergreen and mint overtones.

  • 20 g Willamette - 4.8 AA% whole; boiled 45 min

    Willamette

    This hop is used for finishing and dry hopping American and British style ales. Aroma is mild and pleasant ans slightly spicy

  • 30 g Centennial - 6.5 AA% whole; boiled 30 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 20 g Mt. Hood - 3.6 AA% whole; boiled 5 min

    Mt. Hood

    Used mainly for aroma and flavor in American and German style ales and lagers. Aroma is mild, pleasant, light, and clean.

  • 20 g Liberty - 4.6 AA% whole; boiled 5 min

    Liberty

    Used mainly for finishing German and American style ales and lagers. Aroma is mild and pleasant.

  • Wyeast 1026-PC British Cask Ale

    Wyeast 1026-PC British Cask Ale

    A great yeast choice for any cask conditioned British Ale and one that is especially well suited for IPA’s and Australian ales. Produces a nice malt profile and finishes crisp & slightly tart. Low to moderate fruit ester producer that clears well without filtration.
