This recipe was fine tuned for the annual Food and Froth beer festival. This is a very hoppy IPA beer (51.9 IBU)Dry hopped in both Primary and Secondary!!!

Ingredients (Partial Mash5.5 gal)

  • 1 1/4 lbs American Vienna

    American Vienna

    Increases malty flavor, provides balance. Use in Vienna, Märzen and Oktoberfest.

  • 5/16 lbs Toasted Pale Malt

    Toasted Pale Malt

    Imparts nutty flavor and aroma. Use in IPAs and Scottish ales.

  • 11/16 lbs Crystal Malt 40°L

    Crystal Malt 40°L

    Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • 1/4 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 6 lbs Liquid Light Extract

    Liquid Light Extract

    A brewer can create any beer style with this extract when used as a base in conjunction with colored malts and selected hops. Contains no colored malts or hops.

  • 1 lbs Gold Dry; Northwestern

    Gold Dry; Northwestern

    Can be used in making Pilsner, Pale Ale, Dortmunder, Marzen and other Lagers.

  • 1 lbs Barley Flaked

    Barley Flaked

    Helps head retention, imparts creamy smoothness. For porters and stouts.

  • 1/2 lbs Malto Dextrin

    Malto Dextrin

    Adds body and mouthfeel. For all extract beers. Does not ferment.

  • 1/2 oz Centennial - 9.3 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 1/2 oz Perle - 6.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Perle

    Used mainly for its minty bittering and good green hop aromas in all non-pilsener lagersand wheats. Aroma is pleasant and slightly spicy

  • 5/8 oz Centennial - 9.3 AA% pellets; boiled 45 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 5/8 oz East Kent Goldings - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 45 min

    East Kent Goldings

    Mild, slightly flowery.

  • 1/2 oz Nugget - 13.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Nugget

    This is very bitter and often used in medium to dark ales and lagers. Aroma is quite heavy and herbal.

  • 1 tsp irish moss - (omitted from calculations)

    Wyeast 1028 London Ale™

    Rich with a dry finish, minerally profile, bold and crisp, with some fruitiness.
