  • White Labs WLP820 Octoberfest/Märzen Lager

    White Labs WLP820 Octoberfest/Märzen Lager

This yeast produces a very malty, bock like style. It does not finish as dry as WLP830. This yeast is much slower in the first generation than WLP830, so we encourage a larger starter to be used the first generation or schedule a longer lagering time.

Notes

Decoction mash, 30 minutes at 122, 60 minutes at 152. Sparged with 170 degree distilled water instead of my usual tap water.

Quite good

This beer turned out quite well. My only concern is that the hop bitterness is a bit rough, will use Tettnanger for bittering hop next time.
