Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • .5 lbs Crystal Malt 120°L

    Crystal Malt 120°L

    Pronounced caramel flavor and a red color. For stouts, porters and black beers.

  • .3 lbs American Chocolate Malt

    American Chocolate Malt

    Use in all types to adjust color and add nutty, toasted flavor. Chocolate flavor.

  • .5 lbs American Victory

    American Victory

    Provides a deep golden to brown color. Use in nut brown ales, IPAs and Scottish ales.

  • 3.3 lbs Light; John Bull

    Light; John Bull

    Made from Lager malt, it will add body and character to any light brew. Light malt extract will impart rich flavor compounds, ensure an excellent fermentation, and improve the clarity.

  • 2 lbs Honey

    Honey

    Imparts sweet and dry taste. For honey and brown ales. Also: specialty ales.

  • 1.5 oz Fuggle - 4.2 AA% pellets; boiled 45 min

    Mild. Mainly used for finishing and dry hopping especially pale ales, porters, and stouts. Aroma is mild and pleasant, spicy, and soft.

  • 1 oz Tettnanger - 4.5 AA% whole; boiled 5 min

    Tettnanger

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

  • White Labs WLP085 English Ale Blend

    White Labs WLP085 English Ale Blend

    A blend of British ale yeast strains, designed to add complexity to your ale. Moderate fruitiness and mineral-like, with little to no sulfur. Drier than WLP002 and WLP005, but with similar flocculation properties. Good yeast blend for English Pale Ale, Bitter, Porter, Stout, and India Pale Ale.

Notes

Bring grains to 160-170 degrees in 5 gallons of water and steep for 30 minutes. Add extract and honey. Boil for 15 minutes. Add hops boil 40 minutes. Add finishing hops and 1 tsp of irish moss and boil for 5 more minutes.
