American Pale Ale • Extract • 5 gal

Ixnae of Blokhed Homebrewery,This is a Pale which will be made from the second runnings of a split batch. The first runnings will be a Barleywine. Ignore the Grain section in this rec. as it is only used to mimic the gravity and color of the actual extract from the parti-gyle.

Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • .75 lbs Crystal Malt 80°L

    Crystal Malt 80°L

    Body and Richness. Distictive Nutty flavor and or sweet, smooth caramel flavor and a red to deep red color. For porters, old ales.

  • 5 lbs Dry Amber Extract

    Dry Amber Extract

    Cream-colored and full-flavored; will produce amber colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters. Made of pale and crystal malts.

  • .75 oz Centennial - 9.3 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 1 oz Hallertau - 5.3 AA% whole; boiled 30 min

    Hallertau

    Good for all around bittering and finishing stock ales, Belgian ales, and continental style lagers. Aroma is mild, pleasant and flowery.

  • .25 oz Tettnanger - 5.8 AA% whole; boiled 1 min

    Tettnanger

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

  • 1 oz Hallertau - 5.3 AA% whole; boiled 1 min

    Hallertau

    Good for all around bittering and finishing stock ales, Belgian ales, and continental style lagers. Aroma is mild, pleasant and flowery.

  • 1 tsp Irish Moss - (omitted from calculations)

    Irish Moss

  • Wyeast 1272 American Ale II™

    Wyeast 1272 American Ale II™

    Fruitier and more flocculant than 1056, slightly nutty, soft, clean, slightly tart finish.

Notes

This recipe actually uses the second runnings from the Falling Leaf Split-Mash Recipe. Ignore the Grain section here... I merely duplicated the color and extract of the FLSMRec... Calculations here are mainly for hops. I admit it... I am too lazy to do the calcs on paper, and prefer a digital archive of our efforts.
