I created this recipe over a year ago, under the name Hop Monster, and that is it's rightful name. I cannot enter Hop Monster because somebody else did. Anyway, here is a real "over the top" IPA.

Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • .5 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

    Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • 7 lbs Light; John Bull

    Light; John Bull

    Made from Lager malt, it will add body and character to any light brew. Light malt extract will impart rich flavor compounds, ensure an excellent fermentation, and improve the clarity.

  • 1 lbs Dry Light; Muntons

    Dry Light; Muntons

    Used as the base for a wide variety of styles of beers, including lager, pale ales, bitters, and export bitters. Contains no colored malts.

  • .75 oz Chinook - 13.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Chinook

    Spicy, Medium to Heavy.Very strong bittering ability used in all American ales and lagers. Aroma is very floral.

  • .75 oz Centennial - 11.0 AA% pellets; boiled 30 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 1 oz Cascade - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 1 oz Cascade - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 1 tsp Irish Moss - (omitted from calculations)

  • 1/3 tsp Burton Water Salts - (omitted from calculations)

  • White Labs WLP001 California Ale

    White Labs WLP001 California Ale
