Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • 0.25 lbs Crystal Malt 120°L

    Pronounced caramel flavor and a red color. For stouts, porters and black beers.

  • 0.50 lbs American Black Roast

    American Black Roast

    Adds a heavy roast flavor and dark color.

  • 0.25 lbs Brown; Crisp

    Brown; Crisp

    ‘Coffee’ notes for stouts and porters. Smooth mouth-feel.

  • 0.50 lbs Chocolate Malt; Muntons

    Chocolate Malt; Muntons

  • 6 lbs Dark Dry; Northwestern

    Dark Dry; Northwestern

    Generally, for dark beer, oktoberfest, bock, doppelbock, brown ales.

  • .25 lbs Lactose

    Lactose

    Adds sweetness and body. Use in sweet or milk stouts.

  • 1 oz Fuggle - 4.8 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Fuggle

    Mild. Mainly used for finishing and dry hopping especially pale ales, porters, and stouts. Aroma is mild and pleasant, spicy, and soft.

  • 1 oz Brambling Cross - 6.0 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Grandparent of Saxon and Viking, they have a unique toasty, buttery, slighly resiny aroma with some woody notes.

  • 1 oz Opal - 6.5 AA% whole; boiled 1 min

    Opal

    Good high alpha aroma hop. The hop is spicy with subtle citrus.

  • Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

Notes

Couldn't overcome the limitations of a Small Beer, so a highly Caloric Sweet Stout ought to do!!
