Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • .5 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

    Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • 6.5 lbs Liquid Amber Extract

    Liquid Amber Extract

    Amber is used predominantly in the production of medium-colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters.

  • 1 oz Northern Brewer - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Northern Brewer

    Used for bittering with strong flavors and very fragrant in steam beers, dark English ales, and German lagers. Aroma is medium-strong with evergreen and mint overtones.

  • 1 oz East Kent Goldings - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    East Kent Goldings

    Mild, slightly flowery.

  • .5 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 5 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • White Labs WLP001 California Ale

    White Labs WLP001 California Ale

    This yeast is famous for its clean flavors, balance and ability to be used in almost any style ale. It accentuates the hop flavors and is extremely versatile.

Notes

After steeping the grains for 15 min. add 1/2 of the extract then start of the boil, when the wort starts to boil add 1 oz Northern Brewer hops, at 45 min. turn off heat add second half of the extract bring to boil again then add 1 oz Kent Golding hops and Irish Moss, at the last 5 min. of the boil add 1/2 oz of Cascade hops.
