Maris Otter Pale Ale Malt; Thomas Fawcett

A principal ingredient of cask ales using heritage barleys.

  • 1.5 oz Pride of Ringwood - 10.2 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Pride of Ringwood

    Moderate.

  • 4 oz Oak Wood Chips - in secondary for 1 month (omitted from calculations)

    Oak Wood Chips

Adds a pungent woody flavor. Adding oak chips (which is done in the fermenter, not the mash tun) can add some interesting flavors to your homebrew as well as acting as a surface area to accelerate aging. To provide aged-in-oak flavor. Used in some IPA to simulate flavors from ocean passage to India.

Just brewed a 3rd batch. Only brew every few years so it ages some before it's ready to drink. Great in a brandy snifter.
