WINNER of the Family Chocolate Stout contest!
2013-12-07 12:35pm
A narrow winner judged by the "adults" to have best taste and drinkability. Aroma is subtle. Pour is surprisingly clear, dark mahogany, with a toasty brown head that lingers fairly long. The mouthfeel is much thinner than I expected, but smooth and silky. Nice subtle chocolate overtones - a bit malty with no real hops tone at all. Very gulpable.
Silky gulper with age

The last (and I must say the best) bottle is gone. This little beauty shaped up to be a very smooth, gulpable act. The cocoa aroma wasn't what I'd thought it would be - significantly weaker. But it's a real pleasant "flavor beer" that suits the holidays.
