My take on a Belgian IPA.

Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 11.5 lbs Pale Ale Malt; Dingemans

    Pale Ale Malt; Dingemans

    Dingemans Pale Ale malt is fully modified and is easily converted by a single-temperature mash. This is the preferred malt for ales of all types. This malt is interchangeable with British pale ale malt.

  • .5 lbs Munich Malt; Dingemans

    Munich Malt; Dingemans

    Dingemans Munich malt undergoes higher kilning temperatures than pale malt. The resulting malt will lend a full, malty flavor and aroma, and an orange-amber color. This malt can make up to 100% of the grain bill, but low diastatic power makes this malt unsuitable for use with adjuncts.

  • .25 lbs Crystal 120; Crisp

    Crystal 120; Crisp

    Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • .5 oz Chinook - 13.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Chinook

    Spicy, Medium to Heavy.Very strong bittering ability used in all American ales and lagers. Aroma is very floral.

  • 0.50 oz Centennial - 10.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 0.50 oz Centennial - 10.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • .5 oz Chinook - 13.0 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Chinook

    Spicy, Medium to Heavy.Very strong bittering ability used in all American ales and lagers. Aroma is very floral.

    Wyeast 3522 Belgian Ardennes™

    One of many great beer yeasts to produce classic Belgian ales. Phenolics develop with increased fermentation temperatures, mild fuitiness and complex spicy character.

Notes

Mash at 152F for 60 min. Batch sparge with 168F water. 90 min boil.

I am very pleased with the results of this tasty BIPA. The chinook hops provided just the right amount of bite and aroma punch that I enjoy in a hoppy beer which blends perfectly with the Belgian Ardennes yeast. This tasty beverage will disappear fast. Prost!
