Ingredients (All Grain10 gal)

  • 1 lbs Belgian Biscuit

    Belgian Biscuit

    Warm baked biscuit flavor and aroma. Increases body. Use in Belgian beers.

  • 1 lbs Honey Malt

    Honey Malt

    Nutty honey flavor. For brown ales, Belgian wheats, bocks and many other styles.

  • 1 lbs American Caramel 120°L

    American Caramel 120°L

    Provides color, a unique flavor, body, and contribures to foam retention and beer stability. Gives a pronounced to sharp caramel flavor and a deep red color.

  • 18 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 2 oz Vanguard - 4.8 AA% pellets; boiled 90 min

Nice Octoberfest/Amber

Mix of grains provided a nuttiness that I was looking for. Even though Style guideline above says its dark, I feel it may be a bit too light, but il'll defer to the calculator. I like how the yeast provided some fruitiness but not enough to overpower the grains. Initially the yeast didnt clear, but upon cold "lagering" the beer really matured well. I like the choice of hops. Nondescript but there. I would like a bit more but close to top of style and I'm a hop head. Overall very impressed with the way it turned out......and just in time for the end of October.
