Ingredients (All Grain11 gal)

  • 21 lbs Belgian Pils

    Belgian Pils

    Pilsner style malted barley grain.

  • 1 lbs Belgian Aromatic

    Belgian Aromatic

    Imparts a big malt aroma. Use in brown ales, Belgian dubbels and tripels.

  • 1.5 lbs Belgian Wheat Malt

    Belgian Wheat Malt

    Malted wheat for use in Wheat beers.

  • 1.5 lbs Munich 20L Malt; Briess

    Munich 20L Malt; Briess

    Golden orange hue with an intensly malty flavor.

  • 3 lbs White Table Sugar (Sucrose)

    White Table Sugar (Sucrose)

    Common household table/baking sugar. Lightens flavor and body of beer. Can contribute a cider-like flavor to the beer if not cold-fermented or used in large quantities.

  • 1 oz Columbus - 15.0 AA% pellets; boiled 45 min

    Columbus

    Used mainly for bittering with some flavor qualities as well. Aroma is pleasant.

  • 2.75 oz Saaz - 3.1 AA% whole; boiled 10 min

    Saaz

    Used for finishing pilseners, continental lagers, and wheats. The aroma is spicy and pleasant with fragrant overtones.

  • White Labs WLP566 Belgian Saison II

    White Labs WLP566 Belgian Saison II

    Saison strain with more fruity ester production than with WLP565. Moderately phenolic, with a clove-like characteristic in finished beer flavor and aroma. Ferments faster than WLP565.

Checking gravity

Brewed on 3/13 -- let the WLP-670 (american farmhouse) ferment hotter --free rose to about 82. The WLP-566 Saison II fermented cooler (72). On 3/21 the WLP-670 is at 1.007 - the WLP-566 is still at 1.025!
