Ingredients (All Grain5.5 gal)

  • 10.75 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 0.60 lbs CaraMalt; Thomas Fawcett

    CaraMalt; Thomas Fawcett

    Lager colour and flavour adjustment.

  • 0.15 lbs Special B - Caramel malt; Dingemans

Special B - Caramel malt; Dingemans

The darkest of the Belgian crystal malts, Dingemans Special B will impart a heavy caramel taste and is often credited with the raisin-like flavors of some Belgian Abbey ales. Larger percentages (greater than 5%) will contribute a dark brown-black color and fuller body.

  • 0.50 oz Magnum - 14.5 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Magnum

Bred in 1980 at Germany’s Hüll Hop Research Center, this high-alpha variety is renowned for its exceptionally large, heavy cones. Hallertauer Magnum delivers excellent yields and, like many Hüll-developed hops, boasts a strong resistance to disease.

  • 0.50 oz Centennial - 10.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Centennial

Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 1.0 oz Centennial - 10.0 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

  • 1.0 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • Wyeast 1450 Denny’s Favorite 50

    Wyeast 1450 Denny’s Favorite 50

This terrific all-round yeast can be used for almost any beer style, and is a mainstay of one of our local homebrewers, Mr. Denny Conn. It is unique in that it produces a big mouthfeel and accentuates the malt, caramel, or fruit character of a beer without being sweet or under-attenuated.

Excellent beer! This will be a regular brew for sure. The Wyeast 1450 give the beer a velvet mouthfeel.

This should make a very smooth and interesting brew. I've whipped up a few batches with the same hop combination and all efforts have turned out well. Nice balance on your recipe!
