Brewing this weekend. Please let me know your thoughts on it. The recipe is supposedly amazing. the only difference from the original is I changed a more bitter hop with a mild, citrus hop

Source?

I am curious about the source for your recipe. Are you trying to clone St Peters Ruby Red?

No clone

This beer was made from a recipe I found online. I thought it was a good base recipe that I could play with. I kept the grain bill but changed the hops. I love a good red with delicate grapefruit tones. That is why I chose the cascades. This was not suppose to be a clone of any beer, just a good homebrew

The caramel malt...

...is 25% of the grist. That seems out of balance. As a comparison, I searched some of the top Irish Red Ale recipes in Beer Tools and could not find any with more than 10% caramel/crystal malt. The few recipes I found with more than 10% caramel/crystal were some really big barleywines.
