American Pale Ale • All Grain • 5 gal

Made this recipe up using the Brew Master's Bible tables as a guideline. There is an additional infusion of 1/2 oz. citra and 1/2 oz. Colombus hops at 0 min. I am brewing it right now, and don't know how it will turn out...

Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 9 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 2 lbs Pilsner Malt; Hoepfner Malz

    Pilsner Malt; Hoepfner Malz

    Excellent base for producing Pilsner and Lager type beers.

  • 0.75 lbs Cara-Pils; Hoepfner Malz

    Cara-Pils; Hoepfner Malz

    Sometimes used for balancing body and flavor of dark colored beers.

  • 0.5 lbs American Caramel 20°L

    American Caramel 20°L

    Provides color, body, and contributes to foam retention and beer stability.

  • 1 oz Willamette - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Willamette

    This hop is used for finishing and dry hopping American and British style ales. Aroma is mild and pleasant ans slightly spicy

  • 0.5 oz Columbus - 15.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Columbus

    Used mainly for bittering with some flavor qualities as well. Aroma is pleasant.

  • 0.5 oz Citra® - 12.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Citra®

    Citra™ is a special aroma hop variety developed by the Hop Breeding Company (a joint venture between John I. Haas, Inc. and Select Botanicals Group, LLC). It was released in 2007. Citra™ has fairly high alpha acids and total oil contents with a low percentage of cohumulone content. The variety imparts interesting citrus and tropical fruit characters to beer.
