Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • 1.5 lbs Crystal Malt 40°L

    Crystal Malt 40°L

Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • 3.0 lbs Dry Amber; Muntons

    Dry Amber; Muntons

Used predominantly in the production of medium-colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters.

  • 5.0 lbs Liquid Light; Muntons

    Liquid Light; Muntons

Selected English lager malt is used to produce this fine consistent light malt extract.

  • 1.5 oz Warrior® - 16.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Warrior®

New hop with much potential. Very stable.

  • 1.0 oz Columbus - 15.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Columbus

Used mainly for bittering with some flavor qualities as well. Aroma is pleasant.

  • 1.0 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 5 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • White Labs WLP051 California Ale V

White Labs WLP051 California Ale V

From Northern California. This strain is more fruity than WLP001, and slightly more flocculant. Attenuation is lower, resulting in a fuller bodied beer than with WLP001.

Notes

This was bottled on 3/25 and I stuck a 6 pack in the fridge yesterday opened the first one tonite and it is very drinkable almost dangerously so. The profile, however, is not what I was shooting for. The hop schedule sucked!! The beer starts and finishes nice and bitter, it sorta grabs the sides of your tongue and hangs on but thats about it. I changed the hop schedule to get some flavor and aroma. I am switching my bittering hop from Chinook to Warrior and adding Columbus instead of Cascade 45min into boil and adding some .5oz dry hop additions of Warrior, Columbus and Amarillo in secondary, I'm gonna say....3 to five days prior to bottling. Yes, I will be doing a secondary with this one next time.
