Bohemian Pilsener • All Grain • 6.25 gal

Brewed using a triple decoction at 110, 122, and 148 mash out at 155. Sparged with 3 gallons of 170 degree water. To compensate to further along the rise in temp used direct fire to ramp the temps. Made a 1 liter starter over 10 days feeding with LME three times.

  • 9 lbs Belgian Pils

    Belgian Pils

    Pilsner style malted barley grain.

  • .5 lbs Cara-Pils® Malt; Briess

    Cara-Pils® Malt; Briess

    Characteristics & Applications: • The endosperm is completely glassy and will appear to be darker than standard Brewers Malt. • Carapils® is a very unique dextrine-style malt that adds body, foam retention, and beer stability without influencing color or flavor. • Use to upgrade all types of beer, including light colored beers. • The non-fermentables in Carapils® are very advantageous in balancing body and flavor of dark colored beers. • May be used with or without other specialty malts. • Low usage of 1-5% will help achieve desired results. • Produced from AMBA/BMBRI recommended 2-Row Malting Barley varieties.

    Wyeast 2000 Budvar Lager™

    The Budvar strain has a nice malty nose with subtle fruit tones and a rich malt profile on the palate. It finishes malty but dry, well balanced and crisp. Hop character comes through in the finish.

Transferred to secondary 1/7/12. Lagering at 32degrees.
