  • 14 lbs Maris Otter; Crisp

    Maris Otter; Crisp

An English thoroughbred and a favored choice of malt for many brewers. Simpsons' Maris Otter has a rich and nutty flavor and despite its small, berry size has a strong husk. This malt delivers predictable brewhouse performance with modest, yet consistent extracts. Brewers can expect good runoffs with clear wort.

90 min. boil. Single infusion mash at 150. Brewed 9/4/11. Had first bottle 10/28/11. Turned out AMAZING! Hands down the best IPA i've ever had let alone brewed. Hop aroma is intense, color beautiful. Flaked rye added a nice crispness. Nicely balanced.

Since this is my husband's recipe, I HAVE tried it and can honestly say, it's the BEST Imperial IPA have have ever consumed. It's extremely smooth and there's little after taste. It will, however, kick your butt!!! I HIGHLY recommend this to be a recipe to be tried.
