July 3, 2011 pm 12:47pm

5.0/5.0 1 rating

Ingredients (Partial Mash5 gal)

  • 3 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • .75 lbs American Caramel 20°L

    American Caramel 20°L

Provides color, body, and contributes to foam retention and beer stability.

  • .25 lbs Munich 20L Malt; Briess

    Munich 20L Malt; Briess

Golden orange hue with an intensly malty flavor.

  • 4 lbs Dry Extra Light; Muntons

    Dry Extra Light; Muntons

Contains no colored malts or unmalted products; the light color of this product is achieved by using low processing temperatures and low-colored raw materials.

  • 1 lbs Lyle's Golden Syrup

    Lyle's Golden Syrup

Increases alcohol without flavor. Liquid invert sugar.

  • .75 oz Warrior® - 16.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Warrior®

New hop with much potential. Very stable.

  • .75 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 1 oz Citra® - 12.0 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

    Citra®

Citra™ is a special aroma hop variety developed by the Hop Breeding Company (a joint venture between John I. Haas, Inc. and Select Botanicals Group, LLC). It was released in 2007. Citra™ has fairly high alpha acids and total oil contents with a low percentage of cohumulone content. The variety imparts interesting citrus and tropical fruit characters to beer.

  • 1 tsp Irish Moss - (omitted from calculations)

    Irish Moss

A dried red-brown marine algae. Fining agent to remove large proteins. Negatively charged polymer attracts positively charged protein-tannin complexes (extracted from grain husks and hops) during the boil. This action is aided by the clumping of proteins in the boiling process. Irish moss settles to the bottom of the brew kettle with spent hops and hot break material at the end of the boil.

  • Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

Wow - Delecious!

This is the best beer I have brewed to date. Nose is full of Amarillo from dry hop, citrusy, and irresistible. Mouthfeel is bubbly, and stimulating. Warrior provides great, even bittering. Making my mouth water just thinking of this. Finish is clean, light and crisp. This IPA is out-of-this-world!
