4.0/5.0 1 rating

Ingredients (All Grain10 gal)

  • 15 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1.5 lbs 2-Row Caramel Malt 60L; Briess

    2-Row Caramel Malt 60L; Briess

Sweet, Pronounced Caramel. Characteristics & Applications: • In contrast to Brewers Malt, glassiness is a distinguishing characteristic of Caramel Malt. The glassy endosperm creates the desirable non-fermentable components giving true Caramel Malt the ability to contribute body (mouthfeel), foam foam retention, and extended beer stability, while contributing color and unique caramel flavor. • 2-Row Caramel Malt 60L is a roasted caramel malt that imparts deep golden to red color. • Use 3-7% for Pilsener-style beers for balance. • Use 5-15% to provide color, sweetness and color to amber and red beers. • Produced from AMBA/BMBRI recommended 2-Row Malting Barley varieties.

  • 2 lbs Honey Malt

    Honey Malt

Nutty honey flavor. For brown ales, Belgian wheats, bocks and many other styles.

  • .75 lbs Pale Chocolate Malt; Beeston

    Pale Chocolate Malt; Beeston

    Roasted coffee flavor.

  • 1 lbs Black Roasted Barley

    Black Roasted Barley

Unmalted roasted grain, it is the backbone of many stouts. Imparts a sharp acrid flavor characteristic of dry stouts. Gives "dryness" to a stout or porter ,more so than regular Roasted Barley.

  • 2 lbs Dark Brown Sugar

    Dark Brown Sugar

Imparts rich, sweet flavor. Use in Scottish ales, old ales and holiday beers.

  • 3 oz Willamette - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 90 min

    Willamette

This hop is used for finishing and dry hopping American and British style ales. Aroma is mild and pleasant ans slightly spicy

  • Wyeast 1728 Scottish Ale™

Transfered to kegs. Good beer with "peculiar" taste. Bit too much roasted making it more stout-like.

Not Old Peculiar, but still a nice beer

Well after a week in the keg its drinkin time. Beautiful clear Red/Black beer. Yes it too dark for an Old Ale, but the molasses flavor I was looking for comes through nicely. The Scottish ale yeast rounds this one out nicely providing a malty finish. Sort of a mix between and Old Ale and a Strong Stout
