The best way to descibe this beer is clean. Well balanced, great hop feel without it being over powering. only lasted 1 week in the keg. everyone loved it.

Ingredients (All Grain5.25 gal)

  • 10 lbs Pale Ale Malt; Rahr

    Pale Ale Malt; Rahr

A principal ingredient of cask ales using heritage barleys.

  • .5 lbs Crystal Malt 40°L

    Crystal Malt 40°L

Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • .5 lbs Belgian Biscuit

    Belgian Biscuit

Warm baked biscuit flavor and aroma. Increases body. Use in Belgian beers.

  • 1 oz Northern Brewer - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Northern Brewer

Used for bittering with strong flavors and very fragrant in steam beers, dark English ales, and German lagers. Aroma is medium-strong with evergreen and mint overtones.

  • .5 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • .5 oz Amarillo® - 8.7 AA% pellets; boiled 5 min

    Amarillo®

Grown in Washington. A newer multi-use hop with a nice citrus-flower bouquet and medium-high acid content suited for bittering. Used in American Ales and IPAs.

  • 1 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; added dry to secondary fermenter

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 0.53 tbsp Irish Moss - (omitted from calculations)

    Irish Moss

A dried red-brown marine algae. Fining agent to remove large proteins. Negatively charged polymer attracts positively charged protein-tannin complexes (extracted from grain husks and hops) during the boil. This action is aided by the clumping of proteins in the boiling process. Irish moss settles to the bottom of the brew kettle with spent hops and hot break material at the end of the boil.

  • Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

Notes

Yeast started made the night before. 600ml water + I cup light DME.

I'll be brewing this one up every other batch now. Can't wait to put it in the keg next week. Now that I have a 3 keg gravity system I will be trying out in a few days I can make a 10 gal batch so it lasts a little more than a week. Cheers!!!
