White floating chunks - Good flavor
2010-11-24 12:28am
After the first racking the beer was not fully fermented and there were white floating chunks. Suspect these were created from the oils in chocolate others have reported. Good flavor as the chocolate shines through and the slight taste of spice from Abulita is present. Looking forward to the finished beer.
Nice beer but the Amarillo overpowers the chocolate.

Beer finally drinkable after allowing the yeast to settle. First few were a bit chunky and lfts a "scum" on the glass from the yeast/chocolate oil emulsion. Now it is nice a clear with a slight sweetness. Great complexity. You can taste the chocolate, but if I did it again I would use less hop and not a bittering hop with a bite like amarillo. Probably would have been better off using straight willamette.
