Notes

pH = 5.2 Negative iodine test about 30 minutes into mash. Pre-Boil Gravity was a little low at 1.042. Full Volume - No Sparge Mash at Mash at 156 for at least an hour Recirculated for most if not all of the mash. The key is to keep flame fairly low, just beyond having orange tips. I was getting about 1 C per minute. Once temp was reached it held fairly steady. I kept flame very low. About as low as it would go without going out. The pump was lined up on the outer side of the black lines headed towards straight valve. It was a fairly good recirculation the whole time. Added 4 grams pickling salt, 6 grams calcium chloride, and 1/2 teaspoon of citric acid.

I used strangebrew to calculate hops on original recipe using rager formula and it only come out to 32 ibu's. Not sure of the formula Beer Tools is using.

Thanks... My wife's a red head, and has a great sense of humor. I've brewed this 4 or 5 times in the last year. I really like this beer. Its replaced my pale ale as the one I always have on hand.
