Yellow Puppy Pale Ale

Yellow Puppy Pale Ale

American Pale Ale • Extract • 5.0 gal

HolmBrewing

This was only my second batch but I think its pretty good. Bright and citrusy, smooth but with a strong hops presence. When my friend took the first taste she said "Don't change an thing on this." Sweet.

Notes

Steeped grains at 162 in 1 gallon. Put in 3.5 lbs of the extract and added 1.5 gallons. Boiled at 199. Put in the rest of the extract at 2 min. Clumped seriously. Put in earlier or very, very slowly. Missed OG by 2-3 pointsbut doesn't seem to have affected ABV. Held above 70 til fermentation began then moved to location between 64-66. Very vigorous ferment. Might consider a blow off tube next time. Finished at 1.010 or .009. Cold-crashed after 10 days. After 48 hours added 1 oz of Cascades to dry hop.
