Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • .5 lbs English Chocolate Malt

    English Chocolate Malt

    Dark malt that gives a rich red or brown color and nutty flavor. Use for: Brown ales, porters, some stouts Maintains some malty flavor, not as dark as roasted malt.

  • .5 lbs Black Roasted Barley

    Black Roasted Barley

    Unmalted roasted grain, it is the backbone of many stouts. Imparts a sharp acrid flavor characteristic of dry stouts. Gives "dryness" to a stout or porter ,more so than regular Roasted Barley.

  • .25 lbs British Black Patent

    British Black Patent

    Dry, burnt, chalky character. Use in porters, stouts, brown ales and dark lagers.

  • 6.0 lbs Dry Dark Extract

    Dry Dark Extract

    Used predominantly in the production of dark beers such as milds, browns, porters, and stouts.

  • .45 lbs Malto Dextrin

    Malto Dextrin

    Adds body and mouthfeel. For all extract beers. Does not ferment.

  • 1.5 oz Perle - 8.0 AA% whole; boiled 30 min

    Perle

    Used mainly for its minty bittering and good green hop aromas in all non-pilsener lagersand wheats. Aroma is pleasant and slightly spicy

  • .5 oz Centennial - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 20 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • .5 oz Goldings - 5.0 AA% whole; boiled 5 min

    Goldings

    Mild. Slightly flowery.

  • Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale™

    Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale™

    Slight residual diacetyl and fruitiness; great for stouts. Clean, smooth, soft and full-bodied.

i have been brewing for a long time, and i have to say that this is one of the best stouts i have ever set my lips on. once it hits your lips........
