SN Pale Session Ale

SN Pale Session Ale

American Pale Ale • Extract • 5 gal

TwoHeadsBrewing

Similar ingredients to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. However, important changes are the lower amounts of total sugars lowering ABV to around 5.0%. Also, no dry hopping is involved so the overall aroma is less overpowering of hops which lends to a smoother ale. Just my preference, if you like more hop aroma just add 1oz of Cascades to the primary.

Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

Notes

This recipe is for a full boil: plan to start with 5g of water in the kettle and bring to boil. Boil 1.5g in separate pot and bring to 155F for steeping grains. Steep grains for 30 mins then remove and add to boil. For clarity, add 1/3tsp of Irish Moss for 25mins.

Cincybrewer

Good Sierra Nevada flavor but less IBU

Have brewed this twice now. Once bottled and once kegged. It was a hit both times. Many people who are not into high IBU beer (myself included) commented favorably on the taste.
