Ingredients (Partial Mash5 gal)

Provides body. For Oktoberfest, bock, porter, stout, red, amber and brown ales.

  • 1.1 lbs Munich Malt

    Munich Malt

Sweet, toasted flavor and aroma. For Oktoberfests and malty styles

  • 0.91 lbs Maris Otter Pale

    Maris Otter Pale

An English thoroughbred and a favored choice of malt for many brewers. Simpsons' Maris Otter has a rich and nutty flavor and despite its small, berry size has a strong husk. This malt delivers predictable brewhouse performance with modest, yet consistent extracts. Brewers can expect good runoffs with clear wort.

    American Chocolate Malt

Use in all types to adjust color and add nutty, toasted flavor. Chocolate flavor.

  • 0.30 lbs American Black Patent

    American Black Patent

Provides color and sharp flavor in stouts and porters.

  • 5.7 lbs Liquid Light Extract

    Liquid Light Extract

A brewer can create any beer style with this extract when used as a base in conjunction with colored malts and selected hops. Contains no colored malts or hops.

  • 1.64 oz East Kent Goldings - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    East Kent Goldings

    Mild, slightly flowery.

  • 0.75 oz East Kent Goldings - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 0 min

    East Kent Goldings

    Mild, slightly flowery.

  • Wyeast 1028 London Ale™

    Wyeast 1028 London Ale™

Rich with a dry finish, minerally profile, bold and crisp, with some fruitiness.

Notes

I formulated this recipe using Pete's Porter from High Gravity homebrew supply & Jamil Z's recipe online, which were very similar. I bumped up the extract by 0.38 lbs because my OG came out 0.003 low the last time. I also reduced the chocolate malt from 0.6 to 0.48 lbs, and reduced the black malt from 0.38 to 0.30 lbs because this beer tasted too roasty last time. Increased the Maris Otter by 0.2 lbs to compensate. THIS BEER TURNED OUT EXCELLENT. Sweet & roasty. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
