I have to say this is one of my best brews to date. I'm still a bit of a greenhorn, so this recipe was a good challenge for me. I substituted hops that I grew in yard this year (Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook) and also did a dry hop with about 2oz in a secondary. I've been striving to brew an intense and bold IPA with a big hop blast and this one made me feel like a Jedi. Thanks!
hey highway to ale?

what hops did you use to dry hop? im starting this one tonight and just curiuos. thanks
Which dry hop?

I used the same mix of home-grown hops to dry hop with. My three plants all grow into eachother in the yard, so it's impossible to keep the varieties seperated when harvesting. If I had to pick one of the three to use, I'd probably go with Cascade. Cheers.

Thank "mattman," it's all his. I've switched to all grain these days, but I do remember enjoying this one quite a bit when I tried it. So, I think you've definitely got something to look forward to. Patience young Jedi. :)
Cool

I'm glad you guys are brewing this recipe and enjoy it. I welcome any and all suggestions and critiques on the recipe. This beer will probably take close to to months to ferment... Maybe more. Patience is needed indeed. Although, I haven't brewed this one yet, based on the comments, i will be very soon. Definitely going to use highwaytoale's and boogie's suggestions, and dry hop this.
Tonight

A friend and I are brewing this tonight, we couldn't find the correct hops because there out of season, but what we bought should be just as good... If not better.
Awesome! Brew notes.

3/8/15: OG: 1.084... missed by 3 points. After using efficiency calculator this is right on the money. Sample taste was sweet with a lot of hops flavor and aroma. 3/10/15: Fermentation started yesterday 3/9 around 7am. Pitched the yeast at 11:30pm on 3/8. Currently fermenting at 57 deg. Airlock smells like bread and hops/fruit. 3/19/15: Fermentation still going! Fermenter temp has be held in the high 50s - low 60s. Airlock now smells more like hops. Letting it go for another week before gravity sample and dry hop. 3/26/15: Fermentation is finished. Gravity reading is 1.019-1.020 @ 58F. Abv is 8.9%! Color is right on target. Smell is fruit/citrus. Taste is all hops. Very nice. 3/30/15: Dry hopped with 1oz each of Simcoe and Citra. Yeast attenuated a little more. Down to 1.018 for an abv of 9%! Taste = wow!
This was DELICIOUS!

IT didn't last long. A couple of my craft beer drinking co-workers though it was Union Jack at first! I'll take that as a compliment.
