Ingredients (Partial Mash5 gal)

  • 2 lbs Maris Otter Pale

    Maris Otter Pale

An English thoroughbred and a favored choice of malt for many brewers. Simpsons' Maris Otter has a rich and nutty flavor and despite its small, berry size has a strong husk. This malt delivers predictable brewhouse performance with modest, yet consistent extracts. Brewers can expect good runoffs with clear wort.

  • 1 lbs Golden Naked Oats

    Golden Naked Oats

Huskless oat crystal malt. Exotic ingredient for subtle nutty difference. This malt lends a sweet berry-nut flavor. Use at a rate of 4-15% of the total grist to deliver a deep golden hue with light caramel flavors as well as a creamy, satin finish.

  • 0.5 lbs English Chocolate Malt

    English Chocolate Malt

Dark malt that gives a rich red or brown color and nutty flavor. Use for: Brown ales, porters, some stouts Maintains some malty flavor, not as dark as roasted malt.

  • 0.25 lbs British Black Patent

    British Black Patent

Dry, burnt, chalky character. Use in porters, stouts, brown ales and dark lagers.

  • 3 lbs Dry Amber; Muntons

    Dry Amber; Muntons

Used predominantly in the production of medium-colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters.

  • 3.5 lbs Light; John Bull

    Light; John Bull

Made from Lager malt, it will add body and character to any light brew. Light malt extract will impart rich flavor compounds, ensure an excellent fermentation, and improve the clarity.

  • 2 lbs Honey

    Honey

Imparts sweet and dry taste. For honey and brown ales. Also: specialty ales.

  • 1.5 oz Northdown - 7.5 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Northdown

I can't wait!

I will be bottling this on Aug. 22nd. I tasted it a week ago, and it was smooth, rich, and not too sweet. Giving it an extra week or two will make it a little drier.

Worth the wait

This is great! A little stronger than I would have like, but goes down smooth!
