I brewed this, adding Amarillo dryhopping and used House toast oak cubes and it was dedicated to my cousin's band - Fountain of Tears

Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • .05 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • .05 lbs American 6-row Pale

    American 6-row Pale

    Tends to increase lautering efficiency due to a stiffer husk. May be used as the base malt for any beer style. The enzymes in all varieties of the current crop are sufficient to support high percentages of specialty malts and adjuncts.

  • 1.0 lbs Crystal Malt 40°L

    Crystal Malt 40°L

    Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • 0.50 lbs English 2-row Pils

    English 2-row Pils

    Pilsner base malt.

  • 1.0 lbs Honey Malt

    Honey Malt

    Nutty honey flavor. For brown ales, Belgian wheats, bocks and many other styles.

  • 7.0 lbs Liquid Amber Extract

    Liquid Amber Extract

    Amber is used predominantly in the production of medium-colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters.

  • 1.4 lbs Pale Liquid; Alexanders

    Pale Liquid; Alexanders

    Reportedly lightest colored malt extract available.

  • 1.0 lbs Dry Light; Muntons

    Dry Light; Muntons

    Used as the base for a wide variety of styles of beers, including lager, pale ales, bitters, and export bitters. Contains no colored malts.

  • 2.0 lbs Dry Amber; Muntons

    Used predominantly in the production of medium-colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters.

  • .05 oz Northern Brewer - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 90 min

    Northern Brewer

    Used for bittering with strong flavors and very fragrant in steam beers, dark English ales, and German lagers. Aroma is medium-strong with evergreen and mint overtones.

  • 1.0 oz Nugget - 13.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Nugget

    This is very bitter and often used in medium to dark ales and lagers. Aroma is quite heavy and herbal.

  • 1.00 oz Centennial - 10.0 AA% pellets; boiled 45 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 1.0 oz Perle - 8.2 AA% pellets; boiled 30 min

    Perle

    Used mainly for its minty bittering and good green hop aromas in all non-pilsener lagersand wheats. Aroma is pleasant and slightly spicy

  • 2.0 oz Glacier - 8.5 AA% whole; added dry to secondary fermenter

    Glacier

    An excellent new variety with balanced bittering properties combined with a good aroma profile.

  • White Labs WLP060 American Ale Yeast Blend

    White Labs WLP060 American Ale Yeast Blend

    Our most popular yeast strain is WLP001, California Ale Yeast. This blend celebrates the strengths of California- clean, neutral fermentation, versatile usage, and adds two other strains that belong to the same 'clean/neutral' flavor category. The additional strains create complexity to the finished beer. This blend tastes more lager like than WLP001. Hop flavors and bitterness are accentuated, but not to the extreme of California. Slight sulfur will be produced during fermentation.

Turned out great

I am proud of this, it was a success. I would have like a little more hop flavor, but it has great Amarillo aroma. My friend drove across town to tell me how much he liked this. I like the mellow oakiness and I would probably just bump up the bittering hops a tad.
