Doctor's IPA
American IPA • Extract • 5 gal
My first shot at an IPA, trying to get something strong and bitter. Planning to dryhop the secondary with either Amarillo or Cascade. Any thoughts?

Sounds Good

What sup bro, you asked for thoughts so I am going to throw one at cha. If its one thing I know its strong, bitter IPA’s it’s about the only thing that I brew and this recipes sounds great. You are playing off the hops like you are support to be and if you dry hop with Cascade it will complement the sweetness of the Crystal 20. My touches on this would be to lower the extract to 8.5 for an even 7% APV and use California Ale V its will add to the sweetness of the brew and complement the bitterness. Have fun with this one it sound good and let everyone know how it comes out.

I just kegged this brew and I sampled a bit of it. It is a light golden color, with a slight hop aroma which also smells slightly sweet, kinda like honey. Upon tasting it is very smooth, almost lacking in body, feels thin on the tongue, but crisp with hoppy biiterness that is not overwhelming and leaves a nice aftertaste of hops in your mouth, which I like. I dry hopped this with 11/2 ozs of Cascade and it seems to have helped in the aroma aspect. I'm very pleased so far, maybe just lacking in body slighty, but then again it's not carbonated yet, we'll see in a week or two.
