  • 3 lbs Munich Malt

    Sweet, toasted flavor and aroma. For Oktoberfests and malty styles

  • 1 lbs Toasted Pale Malt

    Toasted Pale Malt

    Imparts nutty flavor and aroma. Use in IPAs and Scottish ales.

  • .25 lbs Midwest Wheat Malt

    Midwest Wheat Malt

    Light flavor and creamy head. For American weizenbier, weissbier and dunkelweiss.

  • .5 lbs American Vienna

    American Vienna

    Increases malty flavor, provides balance. Use in Vienna, Märzen and Oktoberfest.

Fermenting

Steeped grains in 2gal of water at 156 F for 1 hr in an igloo drinking water cooler. Sparged with 2gal of water at 160F. Added malt extract and started boil. Once boiling occured added 1 oz Hallertau. At 1hr and 20 min of boiling added 1 oz Tettnanger boiled 10 min. Cooled wort and pitched a quart of yeast perpared from a yeast starter. Fermentation started within 5 hrs.

Time to forget about it!

O.G. was 1.078, Final was 1.015 at the time of bottling. Now the hard part, time to forget about it for a while. Hope my patience is rewarded, will let you know.

Need more time

Nice white head that hangs around for about 5 minutes. This Ale has a nice bitter start that is overcome by the malt as it finishes. Could not detect any smokey flavors at this point. will wait for the 4th of July for next sampling. Overall a very nice beer. Still needs more time
