Ingredients (Extract, 5 gal)

American Caramel 40°L

Provides color, a unique flavor, body, and contributes to foam retention and beer stability.
- 5.5 lbs
Dry Light Extract
Dry Light Extract
White color, mild flavor. Will produce lagers and Pilseners and can also be used to produce darker beers when used in conjunction with colored malts. Made of pale malt.
- 1.0 oz
Northern Brewer - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min
Northern Brewer
Used for bittering with strong flavors and very fragrant in steam beers, dark English ales, and German lagers. Aroma is medium-strong with evergreen and mint overtones.

Centennial - 10.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min
Centennial
Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

Wyeast 1056 American Ale™
Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.
Notes
Steep grains (in grain bag) 30 min in 2.5 gal 150 deg water. Sparge and bring liquid to just under a boil. Remove from heat and add slowly all of the Extract. Bring this to a slow boil and add bittering hops(watch for boil over). see instructions for each of the additonal hop phases. Primary 1 week secondary 1 week prime with 6oz corn sugar. Let it ride in the bottle for a minimum of 2 weeks. Best rewarded at 4 weeks! Enjoy! Additional note..used US 56 dry ale yeast not wyeast 1056.

Easy partial mash recipe

This was a good basic hoppy pa recipe. For someone switching from all extract to partial mash it doesn't get much easier. I've made this one a few times. I love Centennial hops and the finish they give flavor and aroma.
