Very new hop. Primarily used for alpha potential.

White Labs WLP008 East Coast Ale

Our "Brewer Patriot" strain can be used to reproduce many of the American versions of classic beer styles. Similar neutral character of WLP001, but less attenuation, less accentuation of hop bitterness, increased flocculation, and a little tartness. Very

Bitter is Better

2007-05-09 5:15pm

This was my motto for this batch. Even though it’s a IBU is a little high its soooo good. It’s a very filling beer so 1 to 2 and you are full but put a burger and some potato salad in your tummy with it and you might want one more for the road. If you brew please let me know and check out my other recipes.

IPA restructuring

2007-08-28 2:00am

I was considering changing to Northwestern Amber Dry instead of the Golden Promise Pale. Any direction or opinion on this would be appreciated. I am fairly new to the brewing process - I have two very good batches drinking right now and an English Mild in a secondary fermenter with oak chips hiding in the corner. I made an Irish Stout that is unreal and a Weissbier that I have added a dark bitter cherry. I'm looking to make an IPA that has a good body and will not fade when drinking. Thanks in advance... Pants Jones Irish / Russian brewer I drink what I brew because Budweiser is crap

You can not go wrong with Centennial pellets. Centennial hops have a very clean taste. Good luck.

Question...

2007-11-20 9:04am

Sounds good but... Do you think if i change the 10lbs of liquid light extract with DME (light) will make a difference?. Liquid malt is only sold in cans at my local shop and it is expensive (3.5lbs for $14). So just on 10lbs of LME will be around $32 plus tax. Economy is one of my reasons for brewing (primary reason is independence)so i might replace LME with 8 lbs of DME since dry is more concentraded. Let me know what you think!.

Good and Tangy

2008-11-25 10:25pm

Turned out very well. I had to sub Magnum for Galena the store was out. Reduced Gelena to 0.5 oz. Used the standard 3/4 cup corn sugar for carbination. It seems the yeast fed off the corn sugar a little too good and the extra hop sugars. I have a little too much foam damn! Has a little bit of a flavor I was not expecting. It will grow on me. I can't wait to try it out on the family during Thanksgiving this year.

Amazing

Great beer! I made it for the first time last year. I had to change the recipe a bit but stupid me, I never wrote down what I did. That same year a buddy of mine asked me to make the beer for his wedding. I gave him a sixer so he could try it out and he loved it. When I made it for the wedding, it was a little different from what I remembered but it was still very good. Im thinking about making it again this week.

Tasty

Great recipe! Turned out fantastic! Took awhile for mine to bottle condition, 4 weeks. Tasted too sweet (sugary) after 2 weeks, so I had to let the yeast do it's job. Couldn't get Millenium hops so I substituted with Warrior hops. The color is amazing!
