Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • 1 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

    Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • .5 lbs Roasted Barley

    Roasted Barley

    Sweet, grainy, coffee flavor and a red to deep brown color. For porters and stouts.

  • 1 lbs English 2-row Pale

    English 2-row Pale

    All English Ales. Workhorse of British Brewing. Infusion Mash.

  • 8 lbs Light; Mountmellick

    Light; Mountmellick

    Mountmellick Light Lager is made from 100% Irish 2 row spring barley and the finest European hops. It will create a full-bodied golden Irish Lager Style Beer.

  • 1 oz East Kent Goldings - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 0 min

    East Kent Goldings

    Mild, slightly flowery.

  • 1 oz East Kent Goldings - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 43 min

  • Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

Notes

OK, this is just a trial, 10/1/06 smells pretty good, looks very dark Left in primary total of 7 days at 68 and 8 days at 60. Racked and bottled, though not the clone of a favorite I was looking for, I like this better.

Everyone really liked this one. Had a little problem with gushers, still can't figure out where I went wrong there. I have since done this one all grain and was much happier with the results. Super clear, upped the barley in later batches to give it a more irish taste/style.
