White Labs WLP051 California Ale V
White Labs WLP051 California Ale V
From Northern California. This strain is more fruity than WLP001, and slightly more flocculant. Attenuation is lower, resulting in a fuller bodied beer than with WLP001.
Notes
Partial mash (45 minutes @ 156 F). 3/4 cup priming sugar. California or Cal V yeast works great.

Brewed this about 6 weeks ago came out really good. Strong hop aroma and citrus smell. Strong citrus hop flavor as well. Did not do the partial mash, only steeped for 20 min. The hop bite will probably mellow out of the next month resulting in a smoother beer. Their description of the beer was spot. Thanks for the good recipe.
