Hop-fully Scrumptious Pale Ale

Hop-fully Scrumptious Pale Ale

American Pale Ale • Extract • 5 gal

gmku

My first batch ever. I used Laaglanders for the dry malt, which I understand now, after the fact of brewing, imparts a lot of unfermentables. Therefore my FG was a little higher than this recipe calculates--I got 1.020. So, my ABV ended up around 4.3 percent. Next time, I'd either substitute with Munton's dry or another can of syrup. I'd also like to try a liquid yeast instead--a California or American ale liquid yeast would be good. I dry hopped 1/2 oz of Cascade after the first week of fermentation for 5 days. All of this was done with a simple two-pale beginner's kit, and the results were very tasty. Because this turned out so good and is so simple to make, I'm calling this one my stock ale, and I'll tweak it to make improvements with each batch.
