Jay's Steam Beer

Jay's Steam Beer

California Common Beer • Extract • 5 gal

stouts

This beer, fashioned after Anchor Steam, has a caramel maltiness and a fair amount of hops both in the bittering and finish that add to the complexity. A truly American style of lager fermented at ale temperatures.

I brewed this up from ingredients and it is very close to anchor steam. Very different from other styles which is what steam is, very caramely and low hops. I would consider trying a modification with a dry hop perhaps but that would alas no longer be a steam clone. This is a good recipe and a good brew that one may need to develop a taste for if not already a fan of steams.
