Ingredients (All Grain10 gal)

  • 15 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1.5 lbs Coffee Malt;Castle Malting

    Coffee Malt;Castle Malting

    Features: Belgian coffee malt. Taste development at up to 220°C. Usage: Stouts, porters, and stingily in brown ales for hints of fresh roasted coffee. Recommended proportion: 5%. Characteristics: Imparts a rich coffee flavour and aroma to beers. Adds complexity to any dark ale. It also reinforces the color of the beer.

    Extra Dark Crystal Malt;Simpsons

    Ale colour and flavour adjustment tailored to requirement.

  • .3 lbs Smoked Malt, Cherry Wood;Briess

    Smoked Malt, Cherry Wood;Briess

    Intense smoke, smooth, sweet — Cherrywood smoked malt; use in smoke beers or develop complexity and flavor in other styles.

  • .7 lbs Black Malt;Briess

    Black Malt;Briess

    Neutral flavor. Characteristics & Applications: • Use in all beer styles for color adjustment. • Provides the color and sharp, almost acrid, flavor that is characteristic of Stouts and Porters. • Use 1-10% for desired color in Porter and Stout. • Black Malt has a distinctive malty flavor and is not interchangeable with Roasted Barley. • Produced from AMBA/BMBRI recommended 6-Row Malting Barley varieties.

    Belgian White Ale(wit), other specialty beers.

  • 1 oz Nugget -13.5 AA% whole; boiled 90 min

    This is very bitter and often used in medium to dark ales and lagers. Aroma is quite heavy and herbal.

  • Wyeast1084Irish Ale™

    Wyeast1084Irish Ale™

    Slight residual diacetyl and fruitiness; great for stouts. Clean, smooth, soft and full-bodied.

Notes

Added 1/2 cup coffee (chock full of nuts French roast) Simpson’s ED was actually Simpson’s double roasted crystal. Split batch so used half amount of hops stated in recipe (.6z per 5g) and second half was hopped with Cluster same AA (8% cluster - 0.9z/5gal)

Delicious complexity.

Malty, Smokey, sweet, bitter, smooth, coffee. Can drink a few and not put you under the table. Keeper.
