Named in honor of the amazing Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg, KY. NOTE: char one side of the oak chips. soak them in 5 oz of bourbon (I prefer Four Roses). add the soaked wood chips to the secondary.

  • 1 lbs American Chocolate Malt

    Use in all types to adjust color and add nutty, toasted flavor. Chocolate flavor.

  • .75 lbs Roasted Barley

    Mild. Mainly used for finishing and dry hopping especially pale ales, porters, and stouts. Aroma is mild and pleasant, spicy, and soft.

  • 4 oz Oak Wood Chips - Charred and soaked in bourbon (omitted from calculations)

Adding oak chips (which is done in the fermenter, not the mash tun) can add some interesting flavors to your homebrew as well as acting as a surface area to accelerate aging. To provide aged-in-oak flavor. Used in some IPA to simulate flavors from ocean passage to India.

Brewed on 9/10/13. Came out dark with good body. Strong notes of chocolate already. I plan on racking to the secondary with the bourbon-soaked oak chips in 2 weeks. I'll update again when I bottle.
