5.0/5.0 1 rating

Ingredients (Partial Mash5 gal)

  • 5 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • .5 lbs Weyermann CaraAroma®; Weyermann

    Weyermann CaraAroma®; Weyermann

Amber Ale, Dunkel Lager, Dark Ale, Stout, Porter, Bock Beer

  • 5 lbs Dry Light Extract

    Dry Light Extract

White color, mild flavor. Will produce lagers and Pilseners and can also be used to produce darker beers when used in conjunction with colored malts. Made of pale malt.

  • 1 lbs Torrified Wheat

    Torrified Wheat

Helps head retention and mouthfeel, used in some pale ales.

  • 1 lbs Light Brown Sugar

    Light Brown Sugar

Imparts rich, sweet flavor. Use in Scottish ales, old ales and holiday beers.

  • .5 oz Galena - 14.1 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Galena

Neutral. This hop can be very bitter, but blends well with finishing hops. Used in American ales and lagers, but suitable for all beer styles. Aroma is medium but pleasant.

  • 1 oz Citra® - 14.0 AA% pellets; boiled 5 min

    Citra®

Citra™ is a special aroma hop variety developed by the Hop Breeding Company (a joint venture between John I. Haas, Inc. and Select Botanicals Group, LLC). It was released in 2007. Citra™ has fairly high alpha acids and total oil contents with a low percentage of cohumulone content. The variety imparts interesting citrus and tropical fruit characters to beer.

  • 1 ea Cinnamon (stick) - 15 min boil (omitted from calculations)

    Cinnamon (stick)

Cinnamon is the dried bark of various laurel trees in the cinnamomun family. One of the more common trees from which Cinnamon is derived is the cassia. Ground cinnamon is perhaps the most common baking spice. Cinnamon sticks are made from long pieces of bark that are rolled, pressed, and dried.

  • 1 tbsp Yeast Nutrient (AKA Fermax) - 15 min boil (omitted from calculations)

    Yeast Nutrient (AKA Fermax)

Helps yeast stay active during fermentation

  • 4 oz Oak Wood Chips - French Oak secondary soaked 2 weeks in Myers Dark Rum (omitted from calculations)

    Oak Wood Chips

Adds a pungent woody flavor. Adding oak chips (which is done in the fermenter, not the mash tun) can add some interesting flavors to your homebrew as well as acting as a surface area to accelerate aging. To provide aged-in-oak flavor. Used in some IPA to simulate flavors from ocean passage to India.

  • 1 ea Vanilla (whole bean) - Secondary (omitted from calculations)

    Vanilla (whole bean)

Vanilla Beans have a sweet, perfumed aroma with a woody or smoky flavor. Pure Vanilla Extract has a similar aroma. Vanilla Beans are the long, greenish-yellow seed pods of the tropical orchid plant, Vanilla planifolia. Before the plant flowers, the pods are picked, unripe, and cured until they're dark brown. The process takes up to six months.

  • 10 oz Pineapple (fresh) - 15 min boil (omitted from calculations)

    Pineapple (fresh)

Strong cuttingly sweet juicy citrus flavor.

  • White Labs WLP060 American Ale Yeast Blend

White Labs WLP060 American Ale Yeast Blend

Our most popular yeast strain is WLP001, California Ale Yeast. This blend celebrates the strengths of California- clean, neutral fermentation, versatile usage, and adds two other strains that belong to the same 'clean/neutral' flavor category. The additional strains create complexity to the finished beer. This blend tastes more lager like than WLP001. Hop flavors and bitterness are accentuated, but not to the extreme of California. Slight sulfur will be produced during fermentation.
