When I'm looking for a batch with a quick turn around, it's time to whip up this Brown Ale recipe. It's ready to drink within 3 weeks and excellent within the month.

Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • 1.46 lbs Special B - Caramel malt; Dingemans

    Special B - Caramel malt; Dingemans

    The darkest of the Belgian crystal malts, Dingemans Special B will impart a heavy caramel taste and is often credited with the raisin-like flavors of some Belgian Abbey ales. Larger percentages (greater than 5%) will contribute a dark brown-black color and fuller body.

  • 5.86 lbs Dry Amber Extract

    Dry Amber Extract

    Cream-colored and full-flavored; will produce amber colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters. Made of pale and crystal malts.

  • 1.5 oz Fuggle - 4.8 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Mild. Mainly used for finishing and dry hopping especially pale ales, porters, and stouts. Aroma is mild and pleasant, spicy, and soft.
