Cara-Pils® Malt; Briess
Characteristics & Applications: • The endosperm is completely glassy and will appear to be darker than standard Brewers Malt. • Carapils® is a very unique dextrine-style malt that adds body, foam retention, and beer stability without influencing color or flavor. • Use to upgrade all types of beer, including light colored beers. • The non-fermentables in Carapils® are very advantageous in balancing body and flavor of dark colored beers. • May be used with or without other specialty malts. • Low usage of 1-5% will help achieve desired results. • Produced from AMBA/BMBRI recommended 2-Row Malting Barley varieties.

BrewTek CL-200 Scottish Ale
BrewTek CL-200 Scottish Ale
Use for classic Scottish heavys, 90's- or strong ales. This yeast produces a soft, fruity malt profile with a subtle woody, oakey ester profile. A mild, mineral like dryness in the finish makes this a very complex strain.

Brewing it Right Now!

We had to substitute 1728 Scottish Ale yeast for the BrewTek yeast, and we also had to substitute Roasted English Barley for Roasted Barley. Smells great and can't wait to taste it! I also think we added a few oz more of each type of malt, but that was more by accident than design. Now the hardest part of brewing - waiting to try it...

Should turn out great! Would love to hear what you think.
"Killians clone" is highly inaccurate

Looks like a fun recipe, but .53lbs of roasted barley will make this taste more like a porter and a 7.8% alcohol content dwarfs Killian's. Not saying that this won't taste good, just an inaccurate recipe if you really wanted a Killian's clone.

Thanks to you, I'm the neighborhood hero! This beer won't last long, as it's a huge hit. What an awesome look, aroma, and taste. One of my favorite beers ever.
