Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • .10 lbs Roasted Barley

    Roasted Barley

Sweet, grainy, coffee flavor and a red to deep brown color. For porters and stouts.

  • .5 lbs Crystal Malt 10°L

    Crystal Malt 10°L

Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales. Characteristics & Applications: • In contract to Brewers Malt, glassiness is a distinguishing characteristic of Caramel Malt. The glassy endosperm creates the desirable non-fermentable components giving true Caramel Malt the ability to contribute body (mouthfeel), foam foam retention, and extended beer stability, while contributing color and unique caramel flavor. • Caramel 10L is a roasted caramel malt that imparts golden color. • Use 3-7% for Pilsener-style beers for balance. • Use 5-15% to provide color, sweetness and color to light amber beers. • Produced from AMBA/BMBRI recommended 2-Row Malting Barley varieties.

  • .66 lbs Belgian Cara-Pils

    Belgian Cara-Pils

Significantly increases foam/head retention and body of the beer.

  • 7 lbs Amber Liquid; Alexanders

    Amber Liquid; Alexanders

Amber is used predominantly in the production of medium-colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters.

  • 1 oz Northern Brewer - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Northern Brewer

Used for bittering with strong flavors and very fragrant in steam beers, dark English ales, and German lagers. Aroma is medium-strong with evergreen and mint overtones.

  • .5 oz Tettnanger - 4.5 AA% pellets; boiled 10 min

    Tettnanger

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

    Tettnanger

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

  • White Labs WLP060 American Ale Yeast Blend

White Labs WLP060 American Ale Yeast Blend

Our most popular yeast strain is WLP001, California Ale Yeast. This blend celebrates the strengths of California- clean, neutral fermentation, versatile usage, and adds two other strains that belong to the same 'clean/neutral' flavor category. The additional strains create complexity to the finished beer. This blend tastes more lager like than WLP001. Hop flavors and bitterness are accentuated, but not to the extreme of California. Slight sulfur will be produced during fermentation.

Needs a bit ot tweaking

Color looks perfect, well carbed, nice head, but there is a bit of a grainy aftertaste. Not sure if adding hops would fix it or not. Also could stand to be a touch sweeter. Maybe add some honey? So close, but just not quite there.

Almost

Could be great with a bit of tweaking. Grain bill adjustments and adding honey sound like a great idea.
