    German Light Munich

For a desired malty, nutty flavor. Lagers, Oktoberfests and bock beer.

  • .15 lbs Crystal Malt 90°L

    Crystal Malt 90°L

Body and Richness. Distictive Nutty flavor and or sweet, smooth caramel flavor and a red to deep red color. For porters, old ales.

  • .35 lbs German Vienna

    German Vienna

Increases malty flavor, provides balance. Use in Vienna, Märzen and Oktoberfest.

  • .25 lbs CaraMalt; Beeston

    CaraMalt; Beeston

Often used to give color and flavor to pale lagers.

  • 8 lbs Liquid Light Extract

    Liquid Light Extract

A brewer can create any beer style with this extract when used as a base in conjunction with colored malts and selected hops. Contains no colored malts or hops.

  • 1 oz Mt. Hood - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Mt. Hood

Used mainly for aroma and flavor in American and German style ales and lagers. Aroma is mild, pleasant, light, and clean.

  • 1 oz Saaz - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 20 min

Used for finishing pilseners, continental lagers, and wheats. The aroma is spicy and pleasant with fragrant overtones.

  • 1 tbsp Irish moss - (omitted from calculations)

    Irish moss

  • White Labs WLP820 Octoberfest/Märzen Lager

    White Labs WLP820 Octoberfest/Märzen Lager

This yeast produces a very malty, bock like style. It does not finish as dry as WLP830. This yeast is much slower in the first generation than WLP830, so we encourage a larger starter to be used the first generation or schedule a longer lagering time.

4gl boil cold water put grains in until boils starts. pull grains and let drip. Put 8lbs extract in, mix, and bring back boil. At boil put 1oz Mt. Hood hops and boil for 60 minutes. Add 1oz Saaz hops and boil for 20 minutes. Turn flame off add 1 tablespoon Irish moss and sit for 10 minutes. Put onto 1gl ice and 1gl water to bring wort to 65*-70* and pitch yeast. Primary for 10 days secondary for 10 days and bottle for 10 days. Great Octoberfest beer.

my Longshot baby

I was very hesitant on putting this recipe on here because this is my ace but I have received several good changes to other brews of mine because of this site, so here you go. This has a very unique taste to it because of the Crystal and Vienna mix “mixes very well”. The brew is a slightly sweet woody taste with a clean finish and the hop’s bitterness complements the full body of the brew. I have brewing this for 2 years to get the calculation just right and have entered this brew in the longshot challenge “keeping fingers crossed”. If you brew please let my know how you like it.

typo question

I was wondering if there is a typo in the procedure section. Did you mean "starts" when you typed strats? I am really excited to brew this beer and wondered if you have any suggestions for a first time brewer. Thanks.

ya type-o

Yes its starts and no have fun with this one it real easy to do, its all in the brew notes for you. It is a hoppy beer so if you don't want it that bitter low the first hop time 10 minutes. Let me know how it comes out.
