Because water expands and contracts with changes in temperature, it is often useful to know what a given volume of water measures at a different temperature. For example, knowing what the final chilled volume of wort is before at actually cools is determined with the water expansion calculator. Water cooling from boiling temperature to room temperature contracts about four percent (4%).
Calculating Expansion or Contraction
Enter the current volume and temperature in the respective fields on the left. The equivalent volume and temperature are displayed on the right. Changing the far right temperature causes the corresponding volume to update.
