Particles floating in beer bottle.

What went wrong? Was this supposed to happen? Should I throw it out? What do I do now?

Particles floating in beer bottle.

Post by roostergal »

I bottled a red beer 6 days ago. The brew has cleared in the bottle but there are particles floating at the top of beer bottle. Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

particles in bottle

6 days in the bottle is still quite young. Give it another week or so and/or and a few days in the fridge and the particles should drop.

I am an avid beer maker and have never encounter this problem before. Do you think I might be particles of hops?

floating particles

I think that the only time I've noticed this is after dry hopping. At only 6 days in the bottle, there is probably still fermentation going on in the bottle, so it could be clumps of yeast, too, I suppose. Either way, they are probably being buoyed-up by CO2 bubbles, so they might drop once the CO2 goes more completely into solution.
